Academics

Overview

KORE Academy is an independent school currently serving students in grades K-12 who learn differently. Our program is highly structured to provide individualized instruction geared to meet each student’s needs. Many of our students arrive frustrated from a lack of success in a traditional school setting. Within a short time, most students are reinvigorated, both academically and socially. This renewed confidence enables students to exceed expectations!

Grade/Class Size

KORE Academy offers blended grade levels in the following areas: Primary, Intermediate, Middle, and High School. Students are grouped according to grade level and ability. Our emphasis is on small classes, Individual Education Plans, and a map to success for each individual child.

Curriculum

KORE Academy believes in the potential of all students to learn.  Our curriculum is based on Kentucky requirements and includes history, language arts (grammar, reading, writing, and spelling), literature & composition, science, and math, as well as:
  • Art
  • Physical education
  • Music
  • Technology
  • Drama

Life Skills
Electives are chosen to meet high school graduation requirements and to capitalize on the student’s interests and gifts.  All instruction is differentiated to suit the needs of each student.

1:1 Technology Program
In our elementary classes, each student has been assigned an iPad or Chromebook for the school year. In our middle school classes, each student has been assigned a Chromebook for the school year. Our goals are to provide our youngest students with technological literacy, to provide an active learning environment, and to use technology to differentiate and individualize the learning.

Specialized Reading Program and Intervention
The KORE Academy reading specialists work with students with language-based learning issues in one-on-one sessions and in groups using a variety of curriculum-based reading interventions such as modified Orton-Gillingham strategies, Reading Recovery, Reading Mastery, Explode the Code, and Read180.
